Lysergic acid diethylamide (a bit of useless knowledge)

going through my notes from my anthropology of drugs class, i came across the LSD section of my notebook. i was reading about treatment for alcoholism and i remembered that LSD was used successfully to treat alcoholism. it peaked my interests, because usually to treat addicts they give them another drug to ween them off. drug replacement therapy usually works in narcotics (opioids and opiates). they usually replace narcotic addictions with methadone. at the treatment center from our video, they administered a small dosage of LSD to a man. they began to record his vitals and soothe him. along with they LSD they played classical music and showed him pictures of his wife and children. they would ask him open-ended questions to try and “open up” his mind. he began talking to his picture of his wife, asking her questions. during his treatment, he would go from crying to laughing to hysteria.  his whole ordeal lasted all night, and in the morning he vaguely remembered what had happened. but when he was asked to binge drink again, he politely refused and said maybe next time.

i thought this would be an interesting story to share with you guys. maybe stepping outside of our comfort levels would be nice, every once and a while. i know that if i stayed friends with a certain friend of mine, i would be a more ignorant person than i am now. i’m not saying that i am ignorant. i’m just saying that i am more naive than i would like to believe i am.  lets all just think out side of the albuquerque box, and let some knowledge come to us.
